Toby Gunnee
Doctor of Chiropractic, BSc (Hons) MSc DC MEAC FRSPH

Dr Toby Gunnee was born in, and has lived most of his life in Chesterfield. After graduating from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, he returned to the area where he has built a reputation as an excellent clinician.

Dr Gunnee has been working in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire since 2002 with his practice covering a wide variety of musculoskeletal disorders. However, his special interest is lower back pain with or without sciatic pain, although he also has a keen interest in sports injuries after having treated professional football and rugby players. He holds a fellowship with the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health and is a member of the European Academy of Chiropractic.

As of August 2009, Dr Gunnee became the owner of Chesterfield Chiropractic Clinic, having taken over from Dr Carruthers, who still consults in the clinic. His ambition is not only to maintain the good reputation of the clinic locally but also to continue to make it a centre of excellence nationally. The clinic was awarded the coveted Patient Partnership Quality Mark by the College of Chiropractors in January 2009 for its standard of patient service.

As a graduate from Europe’s longest established chiropractic college, the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic now the AECC University College, with degrees from Portsmouth University, Dr George Carruthers has been serving the area as a chiropractor since 1994.

His skillset in musculoskeletal disorders covers a wide spectrum; from low back pain through to spinal rehabilitation, to shoulder problems and trapped nerves to planter fasciitis and knee pain. He sees patients of all ages and all walks of life and has maintained an interest in dealing with whiplash associated injuries and headaches since researching his Masters degree. He offers conservative chiropractic care and is well versed in Kinesio-taping and dry needling techniques. 

He has been published in both medical and chiropractic journals and holds Fellowships in the Royal College of Chiropractors and the European Academy of Chiropractors in orthopaedics. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, a Past President and Fellow of the British Chiropractic Association and a former Secretary General of the European Academy of Chiropractic.

In the field of sports, Dr Carruthers has worked as a chiropractor for both Sheffield Wednesday FC and the Sheffield Steelers professional hockey team, as well being the official chiropractor at the Karate World Championships in Manchester 2008. He continues as a consultant at our clinic. 

Salonie Ranat
Doctor of Chiropractic, Mchiro DC

Salonie knew from a young age that she wanted a career in the health care profession having been inspired by her grandmother who as a nurse helped and cared for others. Salonie studied at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in Pontypridd, South Wales, graduating with a Master's in Chiropractic. Since graduating she worked at a chiropractic clinic in Hucknall where she quickly built up her reputation as a friendly and competent clinician.

Wanting a new challenge, Salonie joined the Chesterfield Chiropractic Clinic in 2017 building on her already impressive reputation. She enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions but has a special interest in sports injuries and uses a variety of additional techniques such as kinesiology taping and dry needling (medical acupuncture).

Outside of her working life, Salonie is an individual who leads a healthy lifestyle and enjoys hiking, cheerleading and yoga on a regular basis. She was a member of the University of South Wales Cheerleading and Dance team and competed in Paris, Europe in which they placed 2nd. Furthermore, Salonie is a Grade 5 Classical Guitarist with a particular interest in Blues.

Dimitris Michael 
Sports and Massage Therapist

Dimitris is a dedicated professional who's been deeply engaged in sports since a young age. His journey led him to the UK, where he completed his Bachelor's degree in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of South Wales. Initially working as a fitness coach, Dimitris' passion for helping injured athletes with their recovery, inspired him to study deeper in the area of injuries and rehabilitation. Pursuing his interest, he earned a Master's degree in Sports Rehabilitation and Therapy from the Anglo European Chiropractic College, developing his career as a therapist and rehabilitator within the private sector.

With a specialization in deep tissue and sports massage, Dimitris incorporates innovative techniques like cupping therapy, scraping, mobilisation and muscle energy techniques into his treatments. Armed with the extensive knowledge gained from his dual degrees, he creates rehabilitation programs adjusted to the needs of individuals of all age groups, including people with chronic injuries and those recovering from heart conditions (cardiac rehabilitation). In addition, Dimitris is a certified personal trainer, further enriching his holistic approach to wellness and rehabilitation.

As a new member of the clinic’s team, Dimitris aims to promote health and well-being by providing his services as best as he can, helping people get back on track with their daily activities as soon as possible, prioritising their needs and safety.'

Lindsey Carruthers
Podiatrist/Chiropodist, SRN RM BSc (Hons) Podiatry MCoP

Lindsey began life in health care as a state registered nurse (SRN) and worked as a state registered midwife (RM) for many years. Having obtained a qualification in Chiropody, she ran a visiting practice in Bournemouth. Years later she chose to return to foot health and graduated from Salford University as a Podiatrist in 2012. Since then she has been working for the NHS in the High Peaks and Dales at both Whitworth and Newholme Hospitals and has undergone further training in diabetics and wound care. As well as general podiatry/chiropody, Lindsey was a member of the multi-disciplinary team as a wound care specialist, working in the DCHS.   

Having semi-retired from the NHS in December 2019, Lindsey has returned to private practice as part of the clinic structure at Gladstone House. In her leisure time, Lindsey enjoys travel, music, handicrafts, cooking and time spent with family.

The Doctor title used by our chiropractors denotes that they are Doctors of Chiropractic (DC), and not medical practitioners. They have undergone a minimum of 5-6 years of accredited, university and post-graduate training in the care and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. All our chiropractors are qualified to internationally accepted standards, have completed a postgraduate registration training scheme and are members of the British Chiropractic Association. Our massage/sports therapist and rehabilitation supervisor is a university graduate and holds a Bachelor in Massage and Sports Therapy.
